Tākaka Kohatu Necklace – Gift (2025)

This manu or bird beak taonga has a bit of a story behind it. I found this intriguing stone at the top of Tākaka hill during a yoga retreat at Anahata. I had gone for a walk one evening due to feeling quite ill when I stumbled across this unique green stone on a path of white shingle. When I returned back to Christchurch I decided to have a play and make something of this interesting kohatu. The result was this bird beak necklace which I gifted to a yoga mentor who has had a significant impact on me since moving to the region. I saw it as an appropriate symbol for the wisdom he shares with others.
