This Hei Hei Matau/Fish hook has been carved out of a beautiful piece of Putiputi pounamu or Flower Jade from the Arahura river. The Hei Matau is often thought to symbolise strength, prosperity, fertility, good luck, and safe travel. However, this said, it’s my belief that the wearer should cast their own intentions on the taonga based on their needs. All these treasures are a source of peace, mana and connection that uplift your mauri. They are also amazing sensory tools to feel or hold in tough times.
