Outkast Tribute Taonga

Outkast Necklace & Mixed Media Piece (2025)

This Outkast artwork features a wearable kōhatu taonga of their “winged-O” symbol—made from Arahura Purple Jasper and Inanga Pounamu. The taonga is half-hitched with a silver-grey 4 plait cord and displayed in front of a mixed media piece of graphite, acrylic paint and gloss varnish. The mixed media art shows two halves of an Alien skull (or ATLien skull) meeting, with two seperate paths becoming one in the eye sockets. The Outkast crown rests on top of the formed skull. This depicts how André Benjamin (André 3000) and Antwon Patton (Big Boi) came together for the shared vision of Outkast. These pieces are framed together as one artwork in a magnetic openable frame.

This was not only a passion project being the talented duo behind the first album I ever brought, it also marked the yearthey were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
